Counseling for Musicians, Service Industry Professionals and Comedians
"When will you get a real job?" I am pretty sure you have heard this question from a concerned parent, confused family member, pressuring partner or an anxious friend. They might not understand that being a performing artist, musician, comedian, author, actor, painter, dancer, freelance artist, graphic designer or entrepreneur IS A REAL JOB!!! With real responsibilities, deadlines and values.
I help musicians, performing artists and service industry professionals find more peace and balance so that you are more able to fully connect within all of your relationships. Your life as an artist and in the service industry has unique challenges that are quite different than a typical 9 to 5. Together, we collaborate and develop a self-care plan so you are able to maintain the energy and stamina to focus on creating your art and perform to the best of your abilities.
My extremely supportive wife and I both understand and are living through some of the challenges and struggles in the entertainment industry:
SEX, DRUGS, ALCOHOL, DEPRESSION, PERFORMANCE ANXIETY, STRESS, WRITER'S BLOCK, CHEATING, GROUPIES, TOURING PRESSURE, TEMPTATIONS, RELATIONSHIP AND COMMUNICATION STRUGGLES, FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES, EGO, NARCISSISM, LEGAL CONCERNS, PUBLISHING AND COPYRIGHTS, FINANCIAL INSTABILITY, PHYSICAL PAIN, EXHAUSTION, INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS... there is no end to the list.
As you can see in the photo above, I am an actively working musician and performing artist. By day, I am a licensed therapist, and by night, I am writing, rehearsing, recording, marketing, advertising, performing and touring with two different DIY Indie bands based in the Twin Cities. I also own a wedding entertainment business and am a professional DJ and jazz trombonist.
"The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers." -Roy Ayers
